Book 3 Chapter 10 – Frank meets Brad

At the end of the story, Frank moves to Maryland and visits Baltimore on Labor Day. While at the Grand Central, a gay entertainment complex in the center of Baltimore, Frank meets Brad who is there too
After lunch, Brad takes Frank on a tour of the gay district including the Hippo, Baltimore’s oldest and best known gay bar.
Afterwards, Brad invites Frank to go to Brad’s apartment, taking the Fort Meade exit exit, and meeting at the Knight’s Inn fo which Frank realizes is close to his house.
Frank follows Brad to to Brad’s apartment which has a balcony.
Frank lives in a townhouse only a short distance further away.

FBI agent Tom Guenwald visits Hamilton, Ohio, again, where he unexpectedly meets Luie who stalls for time telling him the origin of his famous apple fritters.
Luie had visited his Uncle Jorge in Lovington, New Mexico, a friendly small oil and farm town near the Texas border.
A local Hispanic bakery in Lovingon shared the recipe for the apple fritters.
They were made from New Mexico apples, the best there are.

Brahim and Boudi are taken for trial in Roanoke, Virginia, the Star City with the prominent star atop Mill Mountain right in the city.
The trial takes place in the Poff Federal Building where U.S. Federal courts meet.
After the trial, a reporter from the Roanoke Times confronts Ashley Sue. She had been seen with the U.S. attorneys from Washington at the Hotel Roanoke where people go to see and be seen over lunch…only Ashley Sue wished she had not been seen.

When Boudi, Brahim, Kamal, and now Omar travel between Lackawanna in western New York and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, they always take this exit for Wytheville where a warm welcome awaits them.
It’s a friendly town that suspects nothing about the smuggling activity that goes on at the Wilco Station.
Please note that this picture of the Wilco gasoline station is not in Wytheville but in another small town where the light was better for photography. Wilco stations are all similar. Also, since the story was written, Wilco has apparently been acquired by another company and sells Hess brand gasoline.

Patrick’s house is cleaned up and returned to normal.
Paco and Frank then go to Frank’s house in Beavercreek, Ohio, to pack Frank’s bags and set off on their journey.

Frank and Paco leave Dyersburg, Tennessee, headed for Texas. They cross the Mississippi River where wallets are thrown into the river and then enter Missouri.
Book 2 Chapter 24 – the FBI finds Luie and The Serpent

FBI agent Tom Gruenwald goes to Hamilton to inquire about Paco but by chance locates Luie at his bakery.
Then he stakes out the modest houses where Luie and Paco live with their parents.
Finally he follows them to the Serpent Bar in Cincinnati.
